About Eco-Farmer certification
The goals of sustainable agriculture are efficient and effective farming while minimizing any negative environmental impact. These goals can be met by reducing the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides and through the use of soil improvement techniques, such as composting. In order to promote these efforts among farmers, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries are making an integrated effort to establish standards for farmers to follow and to encourage farmers to apply for eco-farmer certification. The guidelines for this certification is in accordance with the Law for Promoting the Introduction of Sustainable Agricultural Production Practices.
