How would you describe the internship in three words?
Inspiring, enlightening, mindful
What were your expectations from the internship before you came to Obubu?
Spending some time in rural Japan learning about tea seemed a dreamy experience and also a deep immersion into a Japan that not many people get to live while travelling.
Did the internship meet your expectations?
Way beyond my expectations.
If you can change anything in the internship, what would it be?
I wouldn’t change anything from mine.
During which period have you been to Obubu?
February – May
Which year have you been to Obubu?
2016
How was a typical day during your period?
It was very varied but could be: early morning walk on my own around Wazuka, breakfast, preparing for tea tour with the others, tea tour most of the day, interns meeting, free time
What was your best memory at Obubu?
Many! But the best best is most probably my first day farming: harvesting Kyobancha and driving around from field to field and to factory, up and down hills, while sitting on a mountain of tea on the back of the truck.
What do you do now?
I keep on learning about tea, try to spread tea culture where I live and co-fund the Global Japanese Tea Association.
Did the internship help you to reach your goals?
Yes
