The Idea

Having tea business cards was an idea by the exceptional Miwako Kita and Hirokazu Matsumoto, and was previously the responsibility of each intern to print and pack. However, most either did not have the time or were unaware of how to print and pack them. Therefore, I decided to take up this laborious task and create business cards for each staff member, assistant manager, and intern. This eventually amounted to creating over 800 tea business cards in total. Expectedly, I had the generous help of two interns for my project: Chihiro Ikeda and Emily Huang.

The Process

Initially, I had hardly any time to commence on my project as my co-intern, Eva Kene, and I were scheduled for tea tours nearly daily, as we were the only two interns during the winter time. Hence, it was quite tricky to create the ambitious number of 800 tea cards. But! Challenges are there to be overcome! Besides including names in both English and Japanese, each person also gets to decide which Obubu tea they want their cards to be filled with. Instead of exchanging a regular business card, we can now give out a packet of Obubu’s tea!

After printing, I had to pack each card with the chosen loose-leaf tea. This was similar to packing sample tea packets pour Tea Club Members. For this, I had the support of two generous interns: Chihiro Ikeda and Emily Huang. We spent an entire afternoon packing and only managed to finish the first 20%. Hence, I started packing one box each day after work and turned my room, Mejiro, into a mini Hojicha Fridge!

The Finish

More than a month after starting, I finally finished a total of 800 tea business cards. I packed them in individual boxes and gave them out during the Intern Meeting.

You’re welcome and enjoy!

Warmest regards,
