Japanese Tea Basics Book

We are excited to share the realisation of a long-running project here at Obubu. Education has always been a core pillar, beginning with sharing a cup of tea with the world through our internship programme, tea club members, and guests from all over. One of the main advantages of joining our internship or assistant manager programmes is the hands-on experience of working and living at the farm. We do not stop there, though. We also offer comprehensive educational training that looks into the finer details from a more theoretical perspective.

This began back in 2018, and interns have shaped the programme ever since, each contributing their own expertise, research, and time. By 2025, that collective knowledge had grown into five educational sessions that all interns receive and teach to their fellow interns, too. Previous Assistant Manager Mia took on the long task of gathering that content into the shape of a book, giving it a more story-like form. And now it is here!

Like all good things at Obubu, this book began with people gathered around tea. We hope this book brings a little of that to wherever you are. Whether you are just starting your tea journey or deepening your curiosity, may this book find you with a warm cup of tea in hand.
