Every year Obubu organises Tea Picking and Rolling Events to celebrate Japanese tea harvesting seasons. Whether you enjoy green tea as a hobby or work with it professionally, Tea Picking and Rolling Event is an ichi go ichi e (a.k.a once in a lifetime) a unique opportunity to experience Japanese green tea!
The event is held three times per yeαr: in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Detailed schedule and dates can be found below.
The event starts with the tea picking in beautiful tea fields of a famous tea producing area – Wazuka, Kyoto. If you have never tried tea picking before, fear not, we will explain you how to do it on the day.
Hand-picking of tea leaves, however, is far from all that is waiting for you. On the same day you get to hand-roll those leaves into tea, using a method that originally came to Japan from China. So through the day you will be able to see how your picked green leaves turn into tea – a heart-warming mind-clearing drink. You may also take some of it home with you!
The event also includes a delicious traditional Japanese lunch box. More than that, you will get to try a unique green tea tempura made from your own freshly picked tea leaves. Tealicious!
