Reflect with tea / お茶と一緒に考える 🍵

Kamusta, Kia ora and こんにちは!

I’m Stefanee, intern #214 of the Autumn batch.

One of the things I love about tea is how it magically brings people together. Whenever I have friends or family over, we would find ourselves lost in conversation for hours over a cup of tea.

From discussing the most random “Would you rather…” questions to having deep, heartfelt conversations about dreams and the future, there were always things to talk about, and tea was always constant.

Throughout my internship, I was reminded of this again and again.

Whether it was sharing tea during a morning of farming in the tea fields or savouring a quiet moment of reflection with a freshly brewed cup in hand, tea continued to connect me to both others and myself.

That’s why, as part of my internship project at Obubu, I created Reflecteang: a deck of tea-inspired reflection cards. Each card invites a moment of pause, encouraging self-reflection and meaningful connection over a cup of tea, while sharing stories of Japanese tea, its culture, and the people behind it.

The Reflecteang deck contains:

  • 12 general reflection cards:
These are reflection questions inspired by tea.
  • 12 Obubu / Japanese tea info cards:
These share information about Japanese tea and showcase Obubu’s principles, paired with light reflection questions.
  • 6 pause cards:
These remind players to take a short break, to pause, reflect, or brew another cup of tea.

How to play (and enjoy):

There really is no right or wrong way to play, but ideally, have some tea ready before you start to fully enjoy the experience.

Reflecteang is designed to be enjoyed either on your own or with others.

Shuffle, pick a card, and let the thoughts and conversations naturally unfurl as the tea slowly steeps.

I hope you enjoy the Reflecteang card deck as much as I enjoyed creating it and curating each question about Japanese tea. May it encourage you to slow down, reflect, and connect with yourself and other wonderful humans, all with a comforting cup of tea in hand.

With love,
Stefanee #214 / @slowlysteeping
