Tea Of The Month – July 2022

July Tea of the Month – Natural Sencha with George

Welcome back to a new Obubu Tea Of The Month with the one and only, George!

It’s been a very hot and humid summer in the tea-farming town of Wazuka. With that said, there’s no better way to stay cool and hydrated than with a cup of iced sencha. For this month’s Tea Of The Month, George sat us down to walk us through his steps to making the perfect cup of iced sencha using Natural Sencha from the Blue Forest Tea Garden. The result? A chilled cup of green tea with a refreshing beer-like kick.

How do you make Iced Sencha à la George?
Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Natural Sencha  (15 g)
  • Tea Pot
  • Tea Cups
  • Boiling Water
  • Ice

Directions:

  1. Measure out roughly 15 grams of Natural Sencha — This is going to be a strong cup of tea!
  2. Using hot water that is about 85 degrees Celsius, infuse the tea for about 4 to 5 minutes — until the leaf has unfolded.
  3. Pour the steeped tea into a separate pitcher filled with ice cubes.
  4. Pour the chilled tea into cups and enjoy the balance of umami, astringency, and sweetness in one sip!
