And the Europe Tour 2018 has passed. As the first stop this year we had Berlin – a beautiful city, that starts to have a vibrant tea scene.
Our events were hosted by newly established Berlin Tea Academy. We met the founded of the Academy – Irena, last year and had some tea events with the parent organization Berlin School of Coffee. In less than a year it has changed a lot – bare white walls became a warm and welcoming tea space.
There we held two events: A Japanese Tea Seminar and a Meet a Tea Farmer Event. It was wonderful to see that both events were full and some people even travelled several hours from other cities of Germany especially for it. We were really moved. Among the participants there were even a few familiar faces – a few of our Tea Club members. Our past intern – Jenny, who now also works at the Berlin Tea Academy came to help.
In the Japanese Tea Seminar, we were tasting a few popular and rare Japanese teas; and everyone had a chance to try their hand at brewing Gyokuro. Meet a Tea Farmer Event was a new thing for us. It ended up as a free style event of brewing tea and answering participant questions. It was engaging and fun, so we would be keen to repeat it next year.
