Hi there! I’m Madeline, intern #229, and I updated the Obubu Tea Club pamphlet :)
Why This Project?
When I was brainstorming ambassador project ideas, I knew I wanted to create something that employed the use of graphic design. I’d initially wanted to create a one-page flyer on Obubu’s internship program, as I’d noticed many of the tea tour guests I’d interacted with had expressed interest in it. I met with a few staff members to propose my idea, which they all initially liked. However, it was eventually voiced that the already existing tea club pamphlet that’s put on our tea tour tables for guests was in need of a major information and graphics update. While it wasn’t my initial plan, I knew revamping this pamphlet would be more immediately beneficial, and I could still dapple in graphic design. Thus, I decided to make this my ambassador project!
The Process
To begin, I went through and read the old tea club pamphlet and made a big list of things I thought could be changed or edited, from sentence flow issues to more technical membership cost updates. I sent this list to Staff Member Pau, who reviewed my suggestions and gave me both feedback and his insight on the overall vision for this pamphlet. In the end, I was given almost full creative freedom for its design, as long as the technical information was correct and it aligned with Obubu’s current brand image.

And so, I set off to work! Assistant Manager Marusya provided me with a link to previous intern Kenji’s photography work that I could use in the redesign (and what I pulled from for all the updated pictures in the pamphlet). I used Canva as my design medium, as I am very comfortable with the platform and knew I could create a design quickly.

After pestering Pau for insight and feedback on my drafts several times, I eventually finalized the pamphlet’s technical information and visuals. I was able to put the design together pretty quickly and produced a final product I’m pretty happy with.

Looking Forward
Although the tea club pamphlet is now much timelier and with more accurate information, technicalities like tea club member costs can change suddenly and will need to be updated. I suggest a brief annual review and revision of the document by a staff member or AM/intern to ensure we’re sharing the most current information. Overall, I hope the updated tea club pamphlet can give interested guests clear and current information on one of Obubu’s most unique offerings!
