Why this project
My first idea was to create a tiktok account for Obubu but due to Marusya’s timeline for her own social media project I had to find something else.
By looking at the project list I fell in love with the idea of making the welcome board for the café because I wanted to do something creative. Furthermore, as the café is evolving every day, I found it really good timing-wise. The café needs a true visual identity before opening.
The steps
I worked with Miwako-san and DJ to find some ideas about what they were waiting for from me and my sketchbook.
The first sketch I did was too much. There were too many pieces of information and dishes that may not stay on the menu so I needed to clarify it.
The second one was better because I had some hints from Miwako-san (taking away the food items, writing the opening hours, less tea plants, informations about menu and cashless more visible)
The second one was almost ok so I did the third one on my IPad to see how it would look in real life. This one was the one because it was clear, precise and had all the information needed.
When I got Miwako’s approval, I ran to the Myiako shop to buy paint and paint brushes.
The final
I waited for a sunny day before painting the board because I really wanted to paint under the sun. It took me almost 2 hours and half and a little heatstroke but I was enjoying my work. It was the final step of my project.
Now that the welcome board is ready, it is only waiting for the café to open.
